Subject: Problem Solved by M.S. Hollis

This Sunday's national news carried a piece about the gray wolf. It appears the enviros are requesting the reinstatement of this proliferating beast to an endangered species status. The reporting was balanced to the extent that Montana ranchers offered their stand on this volatile issue.

Since the wolves need to eat and are expert hunters which continually causes an economic loss for the sheep and cattle ranchers through their livestock kills. Not to mention the costly measures taken to protect those herds from these predators. A more viable solution for this species to exist is necessary.

All cities and towns currently have abandoned pet problems. Huge expenditures of tax dollars are wasted disposing of these unwanted and neglected animals. A permanent staff is always employed to capture, contain and dispose of this problem.
The stray cat populations subsist mainly through predation on the wild bird flocks which drives the bird watchers into a frenzy of concern.

Many areas of the inner cities along with the sewage/ trash disposal sites often contain large and persistent rodent numbers that require continual vigilance and public money to combat. Everyone is aware of the dangers of the diseases associated with rodents.
I purpose that the gray wolves be moved into these urban areas as a natural biological solution. Their hunting would serve to reduce the taxpayer burden by alleviating the need for many animal control officers, almost eliminate the so called animal shelters plus control the disease ridden rodents.

The environmentalists would see the wolf populations thrive. The rancher's herds would finally have a measure of safety. Ultimately, the taxpayer's wolf saves money through the elimination of municipal facilities and employees.
Problem solved
