Subject: Our Ancient Landscape by Mike D.
The local First Residents had a thousand and one uses for the vegetation along the rivers.
For one thing, that was where all the housing materials, fuels, and most of the vegetables were. So they cultivated and otherwise managed the veg along the rivers. They had to for survival purposes.

The landscape is ancient, or more properly, the human presence on the landscape is ancient.
Long before the Pyramids were built in Egypt, people were living on your farm (anywhere America). It has been home to somebody or other for 10,000 years. You are the current Caretaker, and have a wonderful heritage to care for. I think that's pretty neat. I feel that way about my own place. The ghosts are not displeased with me, either, because I do a good job at it.
