Subject: History and Concerns

It is so-stated in many federal writings, that livestock grazing on federal land qualifies as “historic.”

In many areas ranching and grazing cattle has existed for at least 160 years. In much of the Southwest this culture dates back to America’s early settlers.

The law takes seriously any attempt to erase the culture of ranching and grazing cattle to the extent U.S. Supreme Court protects it by not assuming that a State’s historic powers are superseded by federal law…unless that is the clear manifest purpose of Congress.

Local government, “because of a concern for its environment, wildlife, socio-economic impacts and tax base, has standing to sue federal agencies and seek relief for violations of NEPA. Commission of Catron County v. U.S.F.W.S. 75 F3d 1429 (10th Cir. 1996)

History shows interested public as enjoying final word that trumps documented findings of BLM Range Cons and Permittees. This needs to be corrected by BLM Range Cons taking the lead on monitoring public lands and riparian areas.

BLM would have time to get out into the field where they belong, if interested public didn’t deliberately freeze them behind the desk with FOIA’s and constant threat of lawsuits.

Most likely actions by interested public have contributed to the 18 year delay on “interim” agreement.

Why?

Interested public includes groups like the Sierra Club that adopt controlling or ending “livestock grazing on public lands,” as one of their policies.

Ecoterrorist - Islamic Jihad launch national campaigns, cut fences, spike trees, throw nails in county commissioner driveways, and pour sand in gas tanks, in attempts to end public lands grazing, based on broad sweeping, un-scientific claims such as: “Animals and plants by the hundreds are being pushed onto threatened and endangered lists by livestock production.” Mike Hudak

The Islamic Jihad “Extended Palm Projects” wire cutting mission in Wyoming, was very sophisticated. It is a disconcerting thought that the federal government may have given funding to this Islamic Jihad group.

Then there’s the overriding goal of big interested public groups - like the Nature Conservancy, that work to shut down domestic resource production. The federal government gives this real estate company millions annually, and expects another 900 million this October.

With its assets close to 4 billion, TNC either buys or takes control of land and water through processes like compromised sellers, conservation easements and allegedly threatened species.

How can American farmer, rancher, other resource providers and private property owners compete? We can’t. And they know that.

Mr. Salazar, you have 69, 000 employees under your management. Please know that most we’ve dealt with over the years have been hard-working, smart, honest individuals who just want to do a good job and serve the public well.
