Subject: Help make a difference in the food our children eat! By Mike Schultz

I have a daughter who was diagnosed with a Medullablastoma brain tumor when she was 14. Now 19 and cured (after extensive chemo and radiation treatments), she is attending CCC for college and was just recently accepted into the nursing program. My point is that she didn't eat a lot of sugar like me. She ate fruits and vegetables, then - from unknown origins. Many foods still today are imported from countries that use unsafe chemicals as pesticides, and herbicides that are deemed unsafe in the USA; but we still import them.

There is nothing wrong with asking "where does this food come from" and why do you import it? I have been an advocate for years, on indicating "USA Produced (or Product) of the USA" with our food".

Our schools here, and like many others use/buy imported food. With many it accounts to thousands of pounds each day.

Many of the food shipping boxes at the school I have personally checked out, do not have a Country of Origin label other than "packaged in ____(a state)"- not the country it comes from.

The uniformed argue that "Country of Origin Labeling" cost. That is the biggest lie, labeling is everywhere if you promote your business. Importing is what costs!

Tell others to ask "WHERE DOES THIS FOOD COME FROM?" You may be surprised what you learn. We have congressional leaders who fight against informed choices for consumers daily.

Check it all out, make those in charge accountable and work to make a positive difference! We need even stronger and honest labeling for everyone in the USA!
