The Gruberization of environmental policies
Accumulation of fraudulent EPA regulations impacts energy, economy, jobs, families and health
Paul Driessen
Call it the Gruberization of America’s energy and environmental policies.
Former White House medical consultant Jonathan Gruber pocketed millions of taxpayer dollars before infamously explaining how ObamaCare was enacted. “Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” he said. “It was really, really critical to getting the bill passed.” At least one key provision was a “very clever basic exploitation of the lack of economic understanding of the American voter.”

Breaking Russia’s energy stranglehold
Europe cannot afford to have its foreign and domestic policies dictated by Putin’s blackmail

Paul Driessen
European Union nations want to impose tougher economic sanctions on Russia for invading Ukraine and providing the missiles that shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17. However, they are worried about biting the hand that feeds them – with the natural gas that fuels much of its economy.
Russia is the world’s second-biggest natural gas producer and third-biggest oil producer, so it can inflict tremendous pressure and damage on its neighbors without firing a shot.

Cornwall Alliance works to ensure reliable, affordable energy for poor families worldwide

In a more rational, moral, compassionate, scientifically literate world, this Cornwall declaration would not be needed. What really drives anti-fracking zealots?
They want to end fossil fuels and capitalism, control our lives and impose eco-utopia
Paul Driessen
Recent news stories underscore the tremendous benefits brought by America’s fracking revolution.
* The shale oil production boom could boost US crude production to 9.5 million barrels of oil per day (bopd) next year, reducing America’s crude oil imports to 21% of domestic demand, the lowest level since 1968. Output from fracked wells represents 43% of all US oil production and 67% of natural gas production; “frack oil” could hit 10 million bopd by 2016, the Energy Information Administration says.

Between 1989 and 2010, Congress rejected nearly 700 cap-tax-and-trade and similar bills that their proponents claimed would control Earth’s perpetually fickle climate and weather. So even as real world crises erupt, President Obama is using executive fiats and regulations to impose his anti-hydrocarbon agenda, slash America’s fossil fuel use, bankrupt coal and utility companies, make electricity prices skyrocket, and “fundamentally transform” our economic, social, legal and constitutional system. The US-Africa Leaders Summit is ending, with many interesting observations about the continent’s future – the most memorable of which might be Secretary of State John Kerry’s suggestion that African nations should practice “climate-smart” agriculture … to accompany the Obama Administration’s determination that they also practice “climate-smart” electricity generation. In the real world, this would translate into “Develop and modernize, but not too much and only in line with our Deep Ecology policies” … “generate electricity, but only what you can get from wind and solar power” … and “Increase food production, but only to the extent that you can do so without relying on biotechnology, chemical fertilizers or tractors.”

Africans would be crazy to buy into this scheme, even to secure foreign aid money being dangled in front of them. Indeed, their guiding principle should be this: Africans should not do what the United States is doing now that it is rich. It should do what the United States did to become rich.

We can scarcely imagine the countless ways the ultra-rich Big Green / Big Government movement acts in consort to control our lives – at the behest of the 0.01% of uber-elites ... and at the expense of the 99% of American taxpayers, consumers, workers and citizens. Even worse, just when we think we are beginning to grasp the enormity of the problem, another report emerges to demonstrate that we still don’t know the half of it, or even the fiftieth. In this article, Washington Examiner columnist and Center for the Defense of Free Enterprise executive vice president Ron Arnold exposes still more of the dirty little secrets these would-be global dictators strive so mightily to keep hidden.

Fixing our dictatorial EPA
EPA, White House and activists must no longer deceive America and rule by executive fiat

Amid a continuing economic and employment collapse, the White House and Environmental Protection Agency are determined to impose still more ruinous regulations. The latest onslaught once again targets carbon dioxide emissions. EPA rules now effectively prevent the construction of new coal-fired power plants and require the closure of hundreds of older facilities. Both President Obama and EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy either don’t care about the economic havoc these regulations will wreak … are somehow convinced that the illusory health and environmental benefits are real … or are simply determined to dragoon the United States into a low-hydrocarbon, renewable energy future, regardless of how little other countries do and despite the adverse impacts that their agenda will have on the health and well-being of American families.

My article discusses many aspects of this ideologically driven agenda – and offers suggestions on how legislators, states and citizens can fight back.

EPA’s next wave of job-killing CO2 regulations
Unleashing EPA bureaucrats on American livelihoods, living standards and liberties
David Rothbard and Craig Rucker

My CFACT colleagues David Rothbard and Craig Rucker have penned a perceptive and hard-hitting commentary on the Obama Administration’s announcement that EPA is imposing draconian new rules on carbon dioxide emissions from coal-fired power plants.

As they note, millions of Americans will be forced to endure a lower quality of life and will be unable to heat or cool their homes properly, pay their rent or mortgage, or save for college and retirement. They will suffer from greater stress, worse sleep deprivation, higher incidences of depression and alcohol, drug, spousal and child abuse, and more heart attacks and strokes. Even West Virginia Democratic Senator Joe Manchin has said, “A lot of people on the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum are going to die.”

EPA has simply ignored all of this, and instead has launched an expensive, national, taxpayer-funded campaign that trumpets hypothetical, chimerical and computer-generated benefits that the onerous regulations will somehow, supposedly deliver to our already battered economy.

Thank you for posting their article, quoting from it, and forwarding it to your friends and colleagues.
Best regards,
Paul

If it does, the impacts on our lives, livelihoods, liberties and living standards will be enormous.

The U.S. Supreme Court recently heard oral arguments in Utility Air Regulatory Group v. Environmental Protection Agency. The case will determine how far EPA can extend its regulatory overreach, to control “climate changing” carbon dioxide from power plants and other facilities – by ignoring the Constitution’s “separation of powers” provisions, rewriting clear language in the Clean Air Act, and disregarding laws that require the agency to consider both the costs and benefits of its regulations and what it is regulating. To bee or not to bee - Reports of honeybees rapidly disappearing are greatly exaggerated

Activist groups continue to promote scary stories that honeybees are rapidly disappearing, dying off at “mysteriously high rates,” potentially affecting one-third of our food crops and causing global food shortages. Time magazine says readers need to contemplate “a world without bees,” while other “mainstream media” articles have sported similar headlines.

The Pesticide Action Network and NRDC are leading campaigns that claim insecticides, especially neonicotinoids, are at least “one of the key factors,” if not the principle or sole reason for bee die-offs.

Thankfully, the facts tell a different story – two stories, actually. First, most bee populations and most managed hives are doing fine, despite periodic mass mortalities that date back over a thousand years. Second, where significant depopulations have occurred, many suspects have been identified, but none has yet been proven guilty, although researchers are closing in on several of them. Carbon dioxide: The “gas of life”
Tiny amounts of this miracle molecule make life on Earth possible

Too many environmentalists, politicians and even scientists continue to vilify human emissions of carbon dioxide, asserting that this gas is causing dangerous manmade global warming and climate change. These claims ignore the dominant roles of complex natural forces in causing planetary warming, cooling, storms, droughts and other climate events. They also ignore the lack of evidence to support climate cataclysm predictions.

At least equally important, criticism of carbon dioxide ignores the vital role this miracle molecule plays in making life on Earth possible. Click here to continue

July 22, 2013
As people understandably become ever more skeptical about manmade global warming catastrophe claims … and congressional action on job-killing carbon dioxide control or cap-and-trade legislation remains extremely unlikely … President Obama and EPA have gone on the attack, promising punitive greenhouse gas regulations that will terminate countless jobs and put the government in charge of everything we make, ship, eat and do. To aid and promote this massive power grab, the climate alarm industry is pulling out all the stops – using our taxpayer dollars to advance this agenda.

In just one example out of hundreds, Dr. Katherine Hayhoe has issued a “report,” claiming that runaway global warming is going turn Delaware into another Georgia. One of her most breathtaking and scary forecasts claims that Delaware is going to get pounded by more than two full months of endless days above 95°F and a hundred-fold increase in days with temperatures at or above 100°F by 2100.

Fortunately, as climatologist David Legates and I point out in our article this week, this is utter nonsense.

The Obama administration in Washington and Cuomo administration in Albany epitomize the ways that environmental laws and regulations are being manipulated to impose anti-human, anti-science ideologies. Eco-imperialists employ environmental laws to deny people access to hydrocarbons and modern technology – harming the very things they claim to care about: human health and lives, wildlife and environmental quality. Vulture environmentalists hijack those laws to seize control over private property that they covet but don’t want to pay for.

President Obama’s appointees for EPA, Interior and Energy are leading the charge to stifle energy and economic development, jobs and prosperity that don’t conform to their hard-green agenda; Cuomo is doing likewise in New York; and the UN is driving the same ideologies on the world stage. The examples are becoming more common, and more outrageous. It’s time to rein in these abuses – and insist that environmental laws be applied to BENEFIT people and environmental quality, and safeguard against REAL pollution problems. Paul Driessen

Paul Driessen review of Greenie Lying Bastards

Radical environmentalists and their allies have launched an all-out attack on “climate deniers” – scientists and other experts who do not accept the Gore-Hansen-IPCC doctrine of “catastrophic manmade global warming and climate change.” The attack is a desperate, pathetic attempt to resurrect their quest for global governance, by scaring people into believing our planet and civilization are imperiled by carbon dioxide emissions.

Their latest offensive is a pitiful movie – produced by a former mouthpiece for eco-terrorists – that claims Big Oil is giving the “deniers” millions of dollars. Inconvenient Truth #1: The oil industry provides virtually NO money for climate chaos skeptics. Inconvenient Truth #2: It is the environmentalists themselves who are rolling in dough – over $19 BILLION from liberal US foundations alone over the past decade.
