I escaped Hungary in 1972.....
by Joe Pernyeszi

What alarms me most is how the government distrusts the people. It also alarms me how people distrust each other. When a government wants to keep tabs on everyone, when they confiscate fire arms saying you will hurt someone, when a person is fearful seeing an other with a fire arm, the nation is in serious trouble. Why should I be concerned when I see a 38 in your belt? If I am concerned, I am concerned because I think you will hurt me. And why should I think that you will hurt me? Someone I never met before. Nobody seems to be asking these questions. Hitler and his bunch were concerned enough to confiscate fire arms, the communist bunch was so fearful of the people, they not only confiscated everything, they enacted such Draconian measures as charging people in "possession" with crimes against the state and most of those "crimes" were punishable by death (hanging).

I see a dangerous parallel here. Today on the news was an item that just added to my fury. A 73 year old man's home was invaded by so called law enforcement and they found automatic weapons, crossbows and a hand grenade. Needless to say, he is in jail, for possessing some inanimate objects. And he is charged with resisting the search with a machete on top of the "possession" charges. What did he need the hand grenade for? Who cares, it is his money, his house, if that's his fancy. My friend paid almost a $1000 for two stub nosed cats. What does he need them for? You can get a cat for free. Well, it is his money, his house, if that's his fancy.

And now the government requires us to pay for and get permits for just about everything. It seems you can't cut a fart anymore without a permit and the environmental idiots charging you with contributing to global warming by releasing some greenhouse gases. They already accused cows for contributing to global warming for the same reason. Mark my word, we're next.

PS: I got the following- 1967 to 2007 - from a friend. While it does describe what's going on in a funny way, it is a very serious problem. What happened to the people here? Is everyone going insane? When I read something like this (and know it to be true through personal experience), I seriously question the sanity of the majority of people. As you know, I escaped from Hungary in 1972 to get out from under a brutal red terror. I often wonder nowadays if I jumped from the frying pen into the fire. To be fair, I can't complain about my financial status. I made more money than I would have made there, the first years were very nice that I could contribute to the demise of that cursed system and, while I thought taxes were too high, I had a muted resentment under president Reagan because I knew the money was spent on doing in communism. But since then I increasingly resent what I see as the proverbial "building socialism". And the totalitarian tendencies under Bush. I think the socialists (some call them democrats) could not ask for a better opportunity to shift this country more to the left than what Bush created. I am at the point that I will never again vote for a republican (I never voted democRAT), save voting for Ron Paul who is really a libertarian. And the little blurb below explains why.

This is great. Some people just don't connect the dots but the analogy might help the self made "victims" in our society.
