Quotes

The following two quotes were printed in the Longmont. Colo. Daily Times - Call, November 29, 1966.

Mr. Jim Henry, who is president of the Colorado Cattle Feeders Association, said "only 18.2 per cent of American family's income is spent on food in the U.S., which compares with as high as 50 per cent in the Soviet Union. House wives' boycott of super markets last month hurt cattle growers, and the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture should back up farmers by saying that production costs must be met if they want to stay in business."   Henry added, "Just because we've always had enough food doesn't mean it will be this way in the future.  We need legislation to protect farmers, because we have less and less voice in Congress and the State Legislatures."

Dr. H.E. Brewbaker said, "We defeat our own purpose by sending our surplus to foreign countries, because those people are not working to get their own supply." Adding, "Birth control must be introduced to many of the underdeveloped countries."
