HB1343 was laid over at the request of the bill sponsor to work on language over which concerns were raised by committee members during the hearing yesterday.
A comment was made by Rep Joe Rice concerning HB1007: He likes how 1007 deals with eliminating the title exception more than 1343. HB1007 is the toll road bill which would hide the existence of a private toll road corridor and gives immunity from prosecution to private toll road companies from for damages caused by filed toll road corridors. This is not a good alternative for corridor residents, as it does nothing to eliminate the corridor, only hides the fact it exists.
Why does the toll road company want this protection, I wonder?
Renewed effort needs to be taken up to remind the committee members HB1007 bill will do little if anything to eliminate the problem of reduced values and unmarketable properties within the corridor. We should not have to give up our right to litigate if we are damaged in order to peacefully reside in our homes.
