LGBT

Personally, I don’t worry much about the issue of Gay and Lesbian marriage status as there are multiple ways to fix the legal issues if necessary without changing marriage per se. That being the case, I have always doubted that the marriage contract was the real driver for, at least, some of the folks interested in that issue.

What I have noticed is in the last year, the Obama administration went to a lot of trouble to speak the letters “LGBT” as a name and always treat them as a singular entity. Now the L and G marriage issue would not be very much of a stretch for the legal (moral is something else altogether) issues that would follow a marriage provision. However, the B and T are very different animals to harness with the L and G. The very way the letters LGBT are spoken by the Obama team may be the indicator.  L and G are clearly enunciated, T has been clear but trails off whereas the B is almost elided out of the hearing range….took a while to get practiced to pronounce it that way.   Sort of like this: LGBT. Very precisely spoken each time I have heard it.

T can be dealt with so long as the union would be limited to two. B on the other hand has a math problem. If I understand the word bisexual, then a marriage for B’s would require 3 or more and that is legally very different from two of anything! Can you imagine a parent-teacher meeting where a vote of 2 out three gets the resolution for little Johnny? I suspect the minority opinion probably having some tense moments once the all get home. Partnership law could well cover most everything( as it does with traditional marriage) but ask any lawyer who has practiced in the family law area what kinds of complications would arise with three…be prepared to sit and listen for a few hours.

So, in the presidential race let me get this straight, the Mormon is walking the tightrope of one man and one woman, but the LGBT Non-Mormon is supporting plural marriage? More amazing is that Obama has evolved to the exact same position as Dick Cheney on the subject!  My! Oh! My!
