Subject: A New Opinion ![]() |
I have, as a medical officer for Sheriff Bobby Grubbs, former Texas Ranger and great American, always thought that at some point security and law would be dependent on sheriffs. Maybe I am just a kid who recalls old western movies, and not so sophisticates; but I did go to law school and I don’t trust Judges or politicians to preserve the constitution. The Federalist society is on a fool’s errand. As Nagel and Graglia might point out judges at all levels just find excuses for imposing their preferences. Few have any respect for the founders, or the constitution of limited powers. So this recent kerfuffel is about the usual California insanity and destruction of the ag sector in many areas on the other side of the coastal mountains—the San Juaquin valley but the northern Ag and rural areas. However more important is the intro to the “Constitutional Sherifff’s,” 8 sheriffs sworn to defend the constitution of the US from all perils, domestic and foreign who say that the new CARB and CA EPA regs are such a threat and they will not enforce those laws. AS ANDREW JACKSON SAID WHEN THE SUPREME COURT TRIED TO PUSH A NATIONAL BANK—"LET THE SUPREME COURT ENFORCE ITS OPINION." I have, under the influence of Lino Graglia, always been inclined to think that John Marshall was the original overreacher—creating authority for courts that was never intended for what Hamilton and Madison claimed would be the “weakest” branch. Now we have the imperial judiciary and the fanatic legislature, pushing a central planning enviro agenda on us. yuuuuuk. and more yuuuuuk. The sheriff’s God bless them, have determined that there are enviros and politician's who endanger the constitutional guarantees. Now how might that play out? I learned one thing in the course I took in law school on government—the entities inside the state are subject to the charter and approval of the state, so these sheriff’s would be involved in an insurrection. Let the games begin. I would be more than happy to support a local sheriff against an ass from Austin. In fact I have no confidence in my state senator, who sponsored a bill many years ago to mandate a 15% set aside for alternative energy. I would not support my local state representative, who is a pathetic compromiser. John Dale Dunn MD JD Consultant Emergency Services/Peer Review Civilian Faculty, Emergency Medicine Residency Carl R.
