Subject: In-state tuition for illegals |
Dear Senator Renfroe and Representative Sonnenberg; My wife and I would like to comment on the proposed SB126-11 that would allow children of illegal parents to pay in-state tuition instead of out of state tuition. We understand the financial burden to pay out-of-state tuition on these kids. However, there are several points that must be considered. (1.) There are only so many in-state slots. Allowing these illegal kids to compete with our in-state kids is a sham, and should not be allowed to happen. (2) These illegal kids are considered minority class so they now go before most white kids. There should be a clause that prohibits these kids from being treated as a minority class. They could be accepted after ALL other in-state kids have met the entrance requirements. If there are no slots, tough. (3) Now what about our neighbors in Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming or any other state: Is this fair to them? They are U.S. citizens and should come before these illegals. (4) This bill will not allow any research on their parents or background. What a bunch of crap!! They must at least meet the laws of the U.S. - which of course they have not. Therefore, they thumb their noses at us. Since the kids must apply for citizenship, so let us require the parents to apply also. Since lawyers judge everything as legal or illegal, let's do the same here... and say no! Thank both of you for your hard work during in these trying times. Gil & Barb Barthol |
