Today is Friday the 13th as I write -- declared unlucky because on this day The Pope rounded up and murdered all he could catch of The Knights Templar, because their success was a threat to his political power.

My particular pet target the last thirty years or so has been the so-called "religious right" whose rise I warned about in the prophetic declaration Fundamental Blasphemy. Though the spirit of God is very dear to me, and I hold many Conservative views, I agree with both the Bible and the Constitution that for a religious body to get into bed with secular power and embrace the deadly sword of civil law enforcement is "fornicating with the kings of the earth" and should be avoided. To use the power of law enforcement to punish some act just because a reference can be found in some religion's scripture forbidding it is "respect for an establishment of religion." This is exactly what the 1st Amendment is written to prevent, and what the Neo Christian cabal in today’s government is deliberately attempting to do, and quite openly.

Insofar as the Biblical paradigm for political rule is not democracy at all, but a self-anointed bureaucracy which imposes the absolute authority of a totalitarian God in absentia, then making and enforcing laws by quoting Leviticus or Revelation is exactly what would be meant by the term “Christian sharia.” Much as I admire and support both Church and State, I am acutely aware that their union is and historically always has been not just illicit, but destructive to both. There is no faster way to corrupt your church than to start whoring her out for votes and dollars in the wicked game of politics.
