Socialism Is A Bankrupt Mindset and a Criminal Act

Many writers and intellectuals have weighed in on the definition of socialism, author and writer Ayn Rand among them. Here are a few significant descriptions from these intellectuals and Ms. Rand, of what socialism is and does.

"Socialism is the doctrine that man has no right to exist for his own sake, that his life and his work do not belong to him, but belong to society, that the only justification of his existence is his service to society, and that society may dispose of him in any way it pleases for the sake of whatever it deems to be its own tribal, collective good. The essential characteristic of socialism is the denial of individual property rights. Under socialism, the right to property (which is the right of use and disposal) is vested in 'society as a whole, i.e., in the collective, with production and distribution controlled by the state, i.e., by the government.

Socialism may be established by force, as in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics - or by vote, as in Nazi (National Socialist) Germany. The degree of socialization may be total, as in Russia - or partial, as in England. Theoretically, the differences are superficial; practically, they are only a matter of time. The basic principle, in all cases, is the same.

There is no difference between the principles, policies and practical results of socialism -- and those of any historical or prehistorical tyranny. Socialism is merely democratic absolute monarchy, that is, a system of absolutism without a fixed head, open to seizure of power by all comers, by any ruthless climber, opportunist, adventurer, demagogue or thug (or Democrat). When you consider socialism, do not fool yourself about its nature. Remember that there is no such dichotomy as 'human rights' versus 'property rights.' No human rights can exist without property rights. Since material goods are produced by the mind and effort of individual men, and are needed to sustain their lives, if the producer does not own the result of his effort, he does not own his life. To deny property rights means to turn men into property owned by the state. Whoever claims the 'right' to 'redistribute' the wealth produced by others is claiming the 'right' to treat human beings as chattel.

European Socialist Karl Marx had a much more succinct definition: "From those with the greatest capability to those with the greatest need." If these definitions aren't an alarm bell, then no one is paying attention.

Socialism in America has been creeping upon us for 80 to 100 years, starting somewhere around Woodrow Wilson's term in office. Socialist roots come from three motives. 1) Sincere altruism to help those in need; 2) misguided compassion without regard to consequences; and 3) or the premeditated desire to entrench power by offering handouts from government to secure votes, handouts that government would have to steal from others.

Herbert Hoover took us even deeper into socialism and FDR sealed the deal with the New Deal and Social Security. In 1944, after FDR gave his infamous speech about expanding the rights of American citizens to a series of social rights (provided by the government of course), the Socialist Party candidate for president, Norman Thomas, essentially said there was no need for him to run any more, because the Democrat Party had adopted the Socialist Party platform. His actual quote was: "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism', they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." Most presidents and congresses since FDR, have continued and increased the Socialist doctrine and have deepened our ties to socialist Europe and the United Nations.

And that is where we are today. We have adopted socialism without knowing how it happened. And now we are reaping the results of our acquiescence and stupidity. We were seduced by an offer from government of a "free" lunch in return for our votes, when no such "free" lunch exists. Socialism has replaced our Constitutional Republic, while we weren't looking. Socialism and social engineering of just about every government system there is, has brought us to the brink of insolvency and a national debt that equals $37,000 for every man, woman and child in America. Socialism and liberalism may have single-handedly destroyed our Republic while we watched and did nothing, or did too little. It wasn't just greed that brought down Wall Street. It was government-instituted social programs and social engineering that brought down our financial system and now requires a massive bailout of unprecedented proportion and a huge increase of government power. It was and is socialism that has killed any semblance of constitutional law and safeguards. They might as well take the Constitution and use it in the Capitol outhouse.

So let's name some names. It was Barney Frank, Chairman of the Banking Committee, Senators Chris Dodd and Chuck Shumer, Democrats, that resisted any attempts to bring Fanny May and Freddie Mack under control, after having been warned on numerous occasions of a pending financial catastrophe by the President and other Republicans. If Freddie and Fannie were Enron, GE or GM, and Barney Frank, Chuck Shumer and Chris Dodd were the CEO's of each company, they would, or should be in jail right now. When the government screws up, no heads roll. And the voters who keep these screw ups in office, are naive, uneducated idiots.

It was President Clinton that brought us, by Executive Order, the United Nations Agenda 21 policies and instituted radical environmentalism at every level of government. It has been most of the Democrats, along with Senator Harry Reid and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, that have strangled our own natural resources (oil, coal, natural gas, hydro and nuclear energy and power plants and refineries) that have forced Americans to send $700 billion of their dollars every year overseas to dictators, despots and tyrants, who hate our guts.

It has been Democrat/liberals that have not only killed the Republic for which it stands, but have reduced proud Americans to nothing more than serfs of the government. Their social and radical environmental policies have not only bankrupted America, forced prices through the roof, left us open to energy blackmail by foreign governments, left our borders unsecured, diluted our sovereignty to European and United Nations socialist policies and have left us highly vulnerable to foreign invasion.

Now we are going to find out that life is truly tough and those who don't prepare for a tough life may not be able to look to government for their salvation, as government (that's us) is broke because of the insanity of Socialism. We may now have only one choice. Look to ourselves and each other for help, as was the design of our Founding Fathers and the form of government in liberty, they forged with their own blood.

The Democrat's socialist and radical environmental actions are not only criminal, they are treasonous. For those Americans who have acquiesced to Socialism, you are just as guilty as the leaders who led us here. Unfortunately, many Americans have forgotten that socialism and freedom are mutually exclusive.

If you do not consider yourself as government chattel, consider the Libertas Rebellion?
