USS Mesa Verde - leaving port one last time As the ship sailed on her final leg towards the entrance to the channel, I saw her CO, CDR Lobree, stand from his chair on the starboard bridge wing and face us, and then proceeded to do a hand salute like saying thank you to all of us for our hospitality. Shortly after we heard him on bridge-to-bridge radio releasing his escort and thanking all of us again for what we did for him. On the contraire my Captain, we were the ones honored by your visit. Fair winds and following seas to the Mesa Verde and Gods speed! Hoping to see you all again one of these days | |
