USS Mesa Verde - leaving port one last time

As the ship sailed on her final leg towards the entrance to the channel, I saw her CO, CDR Lobree, stand from his chair on the starboard bridge wing and face us, and then proceeded to do a hand salute like saying thank you to all of us for our hospitality. Shortly after we heard him on bridge-to-bridge radio releasing his escort and thanking all of us again for what we did for him. On the contraire my Captain, we were the ones honored by your visit.
