From 2005 - 2009 the crime rate dropped 50% - for the unincorporated Weld County (the jurisdiction the Sheriff's Office covers).
Crime rate is based on the number of crime plus population. In 2005, the service population for the Sheriff's Office was about 50,000 people; in 2009 it was 60,000. Even though our population increased, the total number of crimes dropped.

In 2005, 253 CCW permits were issued. In 2009, 1433 were issued.
