UN recognizes organization whose positions run contraire

On Friday, February 2nd, 2007, The UNESCO organization INFOTERM referenced the Institute for Trade, Standards and Sustainable Development's (ITSSD)  Brazil IPRs paper from September 2006, "Rediscovering Intellectual Property:  How Brazil's Recognition and Protection of Foreign IPRs Can Stimulate Domestic Innovation and Generate Economic Growth."
ITSSD president *Lawrence A. Kogan, Esq. has personally advised the U.S. government on many issues, finding these as opportunities to "further educate and promote a positive global paradigm of sustainable development."

In his book "Exporting Precaution:  How Europe's Risk-Free Regulatory Agenda Threatens American Free Enterprise," Mr. Kogan outlines in vivid detail the nature and scope of the risk we face from undocumented and undefined "principles," while providing a path forward for all of the concerned stakeholders -- government, industry and consumers.

Scheduled as a key speaker at the first Good Neighbor Forum in the United States, Mr. Kogan told GNF about the curious nature of "ITSSD's growing recognition within the UN system, even though our positions run contrary to the UN consensus view."

* Lawrence A. Kogan, Esq. (New Jersey) is an international business, trade and regulatory attorney who has advised the National Foreign Trade Council, the U.S. Government and American industry on complex WTO trade and environmental issues.  He is CEO and Co-Director of The Institute for Trade, Standards and Sustainable Development, Inc. and independent, non-partisan, not-for-profit organization.
