Bass Ackwards: How Climate Alarmists Confuse Cause with Effect

Howard C. Hayden (Vales Lake book)
“The Science is Settled!” So we are told by climate alarmists eager to silence skepticism about their PlayStation Climatology.

It is telling that the IPCC has never made a cause-effect graph showing “forcing” (in watts per square meter) from CO2 on one axis and the resulting temperature rise on the other. Had they done so, using real data instead of computer models, they would have discovered the absurdity of their predictions.

An approximately 30% increase in oceanic emissions of CO2 into the atmosphere since pre-industrial times is said by the IPCC to be “anthropogenic.”
No, they don’t really think that humans have some machines in the ocean spewing out CO2; rather, they recognize that the oceans have warmed up and are emitting more CO2. Oh, and an annual 6 trillion kg of CO2 emissions from combustion somehow becomes about 20 trillion kg of CO2 going into the ocean annually. Go figure.

The Secret Knowledge: On the Dismantling of American Culture by David Mamet

Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business By Robert A. Lutz

Excerpt

Review
Bob Lutz has been one of my heroes in the automobile industry for decades. I first remember reading about him when he was the head of Ford of Germany in the 1970s. Lee Iacocca brought him from Ford to Chrysler where, after Iacocca’s retirement, he engineered a product resurgence that made Chrysler as a corporation saleable to Daimler Benz. Known for his irreverent rhetoric, he didn’t fit particularly well within a staid German bureaucracy, and they canned him. Eventually, Rick Waggoner brought him back to General Motors, where he had started his career, and made him Vice Chairman in charge of global product development. GM’s current rather respectable product portfolio is, to a large extent, his doing. He was canned by the Obama administration in the 2009 bankruptcy and restructuring of GM. Subsequent efforts to bring him back to GM have been firmly rebuffed by the Obama administration. “Too old” (he’s almost 80) is the usual reason given, but the hate seems to run deep.

Lutz has never been one to mince words with the media, and his views on global warming were expressed while he was at GM. They drew an official rebuke and denial from the GM hierarchy at the time, but he now expresses them again in his just published book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters. I thought you might enjoy this excerpt from the book. On the one hand, it is vintage Lutz. On the other hand, it also demonstrates that the tide against AGW has probably turned more decisively than may be apparent from your angle – though, as Lutz warns, the ugliest battles against a “wounded” AGW crowd may still lie ahead.

Putting the Horse before Descartes - My Life's Work on Behalf of Animals by Bernard E. Rollin

"Dr. Rollin is a pioneer who introduced both philosophy and the principles of ethical treatment of animals to veterinary school curricula all over the country. In the process, he convinced the schools to eliminate cruel laboratory experiments that were a standard part of the veterinary school curriculum. His book is an engaging combination of both philosophical principles and his experiences. It should be required reading for both veterinary and animal science students. I highly recommend this book to everybody who is interested in the ethical treatment of animals." —Temple Grandin, co-author of Animals in Translation and Animals Make Us Human

Politicizing Science: The Alchemy of Policymaking by Michael Gough

In this book leading scientists share their experiences and observations of developing and testing hypotheses, offering insights on the dangers of manipulating science for political gain. It describes how politicization--whether by misapplication, overextension, or outright manipulation of the scientific record to advance particular policy agendas--imposes expenditures of money, missed opportunities, and burdens on the economy.
An excerpt "Harmful Politicization of Science" by Dr. William Happer - Professor of Physics at Princeton University.

Beverly Eakman has achieved that which I personally begged smart individuals to assemble; and that is, "The Whole Picture."

Beverly found then shows how all the happenings in America - are connected!

Her book should be carried and used faithfully, by any reporter who cares enough - to rise above personal opinion and report... with a dispassionate eye.

I can't thank Beverly enough, for giving us her masterful work.

Here's a simple way for anyone to weigh carbon dioxide. Just go down to Freddies, purchase a chunk of Dry Ice, rush home before it 'melts', and put it on your bathroom scale! Take along a Republican and see if he gets the same result!
