OMSI, Portland State University ban real science
Gordon Fulks
Science that cannot be questioned, let alone discussed, is not science at all.
The issue goes beyond "free speech" because we are technically
allowed to say anything we wish. It is just that some make sure that
few will hear our side of things. This would seem to violate our
constitutionally protected rights, where the political majority
is actively trying to silence a political minority.
But science requires more than just the right to be heard.
It requires free and open discussion of all issues whether they be
Global Warming or the speed of neutrinos traveling through the Alps
. Those who use their positions to silence the perspectives with
which they do not agree, commit grave offenses against science.
They know that they can get away with it in the short term.
But the Devil eventually comes to collect on Faustian Bargains.

Dr. Willie Soon, Dr. David Legates, Paul Driessen
Dr. Willie Soon’s research into the sun’s role in climate change has helped make millions aware that carbon dioxide’s influence is far less than alarmist climate scientists and politicians want them to think. So it’s not surprising that Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki would attack Dr. Soon – even though Suzuki has never even spoken to Soon – even to the point of relying on recycled Greenpeace disinformation and lies.
This commentary – by Dr. Soon’s colleague, University of Delaware climatologist David Legates – does a masterful job of showing just how far off the deep end Suzuki’s ad hominem attacks have gone.
Thank you for posting it.

The commentary by my CFACT colleagues David Rothbard and Craig Rucker sets the stage for this Thursday and Friday’s Washington, DC international conference of climate disaster skeptics, hosted by the Heartland Institute.
It underscores what is really going on in Europe and the rest of the world with regard to the Kyoto Protocol and the harmful consequences of continuing to pursue policies that inevitably deprive us of reliable, affordable energy – for no environmental benefit. It explains why the United States should under no circumstances agree to any UN or EPA climate change protection racket.
By the way, CFACT sent representatives to the recent UNFCCC meeting in Bonn, Germany (June 6-17) as observers and to present balanced information on the science of climate change. This op-ed was drafted from information garnered during that conference. CFACT also plans to send scientists and staff to attend the upcoming UNFCCC (COP-17) conference in Durban, South Africa this December. And CFACT associate Marc Morano, of ClimateDepot.com, gave a passionate (and often hilarious) talk during this Thursday sessions of the Heartland Institute International Climate Conference. "Much empirical work on climate change depends on the assumption that biases from urbanization and land use change, which are known to affect basic weather station data, are removed during the construction of gridded climate data products. But there have been surprisingly few formal tests of this assumption."

I am an environmentalist and a scientist, naturally concerned about the dangers of pollution. But I am now more concerned about society becoming captive of the "scientific-technological elite" that President Eisenhower warned about on 17 Jan 1961: "The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present – and is gravely to be regarded." Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite." http://mcadams.posc.mu.edu/ike.htm
